Frequently asked questions
Can Claude perform accounting work?
Yes, for individual tasks like analyzing a one-off file for variance investigation. However, it performs work by writing code, without validation or approvals. But none of that work touches your audit log. None of it can be re-performed. And the preparation history lives inside personal AI accounts that walk out the door when employees do.
Can Claude run the financial close?
They can automate individual accounting tasks, and code can produce deterministic outputs. What they can’t do is run the financial close as a production system. The close depends on interconnected workflows, persistent state across periods, exception handling, approvals, and audit-ready evidence. Building that infrastructure yourself is possible, but it requires months of engineering and ongoing maintenance as your processes, models, and business continue to evolve.
How does Maxima produce accurate and consistent outputs?
Max doesn't take your GL data, hand it to a language model, and ask it to generate an answer. Instead, it combines accounting-specific reasoning, native tool calling, source data, company-specific accounting policies, deterministic calculations, and human review workflows to produce outputs that are accurate, repeatable, and audit-ready.
If Claude keeps getting better, why does Maxima matter?
Frontier AI models like Claude have already demonstrated expert-level accounting knowledge and can pass sections of the CPA exam. But accounting is not an intelligence problem. It’s a reliability problem. The challenge isn’t producing the right answer once. It’s producing accurate, consistent, and auditable outputs across thousands of interconnected workflows, month after month, without errors compounding over time.
We continuously evaluate Max against real accounting workflows, edge cases, and expected outcomes so performance improves where it matters most: real accounting work. The model provides the intelligence. Maxima provides the accounting system that makes that intelligence domain specific and reliable.
What about security considerations?
Max runs in isolated cloud sandbox; data never touches a local machine Claude runs locally on your laptop with unconstrained access to everything. There is risk in malicious data, data corruption and data loss as highlighted by Anthropic themselves.
Does Maxima integrate with NetSuite and other systems?
Yes. Maxima includes a native NetSuite integration with continuous bi-directional sync, along with 150+ native integrations across ERPs, banks, payroll, HRIS, billing platforms, data warehouses, and document systems. Recreating that with general-purpose AI means building and maintaining each integration yourself as APIs, schemas, and business systems evolve.
What is the benefit of Max being model agnostic?
No single model is best across every workflow. The right choice depends on the task and workflow balancing reasoning quality, speed, and cost. That's why Maxima combines frontier models (GLM 5.2, Fable 5, Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, GPT 5.6, MuseSpark 1.1) and routes to the right model for the right task and pairs them with codified accounting skills, validations, and approval workflows inside Maxima's platform.
