Can Claude perform accounting work?

Yes, for individual tasks like analyzing a one-off file for variance investigation. However, it performs work by writing code, without validation or approvals. But none of that work touches your audit log. None of it can be re-performed. And the preparation history lives inside personal AI accounts that walk out the door when employees do.

Can Claude run the financial close?

They can automate individual accounting tasks, and code can produce deterministic outputs. What they can’t do is run the financial close as a production system. The close depends on interconnected workflows, persistent state across periods, exception handling, approvals, and audit-ready evidence. Building that infrastructure yourself is possible, but it requires months of engineering and ongoing maintenance as your processes, models, and business continue to evolve.

How does Maxima produce accurate and consistent outputs?

Max doesn't take your GL data, hand it to a language model, and ask it to generate an answer.
